| Gaston Neighbors is a program we have developed to organize events and volunteers to participate in community events. Ordinary citizens that when pulled together can achieve extraordinary things. We are proud to sponsor this effort and we look forward to sharing more about it as it becomes a standard in the community. Neighbors helping Neighbors. We all benefit. |
Would you like to participate in one of the events we sponsor or help on a team that we organize for other events. Everyone is welcome and everyone is encouraged to participate. If you are willing to donate some time, money, or just a little elbow grease then please go to our contact page and send us your information. We send out a newsletter and we will occasionally be calling for help. Together, we can make a difference in Gastonia and make it a truly great place to live.
If you know someone that is in need of some assistance, then we would like to know that as well. If we do not know about it then we can not help. Hope 4 Gaston was one event that we have participated in and the joy you feel by helping someone else in need is overwhelming. Sometimes people needing assistance are too proud or embarrassed to ask for help. Sometimes they just do not know who to ask. Please tell us about them and we can discreetly find out their needs and work to solve them. We are here to help and show that Gastonia truly has great neighbors.

Our Mission:
To help residents of Gastonia that are in need of assistance and to show love and support for the citizens of our community.
We want to be good neighbors. We want to lend a helping hand.
Our Goals:
- Help with housing needs and conditions. Many homes are substandard and because of income or educational restrictions often the residents don't know they have a choice. We want to educate and demonstrate that there is a better way.
- To participate in organized community efforts. Events such as Hope 4 Gaston and Habitat for Humanity are some examples of current organizations that always are in need of volunteers. We can organize our efforts to assist them.
- To organize neighborhoods and communities as they combat crime. We want to encourage and recruit strong Neighborhood Watch associations so residents can have a voice and come together to solve neighborhood problems.
- Work with the city officials and police to improve already known problems and seek solutions that benefit the city, the community and the residents.
- Promote home ownership. Home prices in the West District are some of the lowest around. By putting lenders and potential homeowners together, solutions can be found to make a renters dream of home ownership a reality. The pride that comes with home ownership can be all that a community needs to to become revitalized.
- Assist with education. Our children need the best schools and a community that supports them. Programs that mentor and/or tutor 'at risk' kids can make all the difference. The community can provide the support necessary for our kids to succeed.
